Joseph JACKSON "deserted" in Rome, GA on Nov 7, 1864. He also left with his horse, saddle & equipment.

I found this 1880 Cullman, Cullman County, Alabama census for Joseph KNIGHTON while trying to clean up and straighten up the piles of papers I've accumulated:

Wife: LUDINCE- Married- Female-White- age 60 (b:1820) TN- Both Parents b:SC
Son: THOMAS - Single-Male-White- age 24 (b:1856) AL- Both Parents b:SC.
(Note: According to this Census, Ludince CANNOT be Thomas's Mother as she's born in TN)!
Mother-In-Law: MARY KILPATRICK- Widow-Female-White- age 90 (b:1790) SC- At Home- Father b: NC Mother b:Ireland.

(P.S. Now we know that Ludince/Lutinsa maiden name was KILPATRICK) !
